NDC performance in Dec.7 elections is commendable

Awutu Beraku (C/R), Dec. 28, GNA - The defeated National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the Awutu-Senya Constituency in the last elections, Mr. Moses Arhinful Acquah has urged the Party's supporters not be to down-hearted by the party's inability to return to power.

Rather, they should pat themselves in the back because the Party's performance at the end of the polls has been creditable and commendable, he told the Ghana news Agency in an interview on Monday. "The party has demonstrated to the whole world that it is still strong and alive," he said adding that the NDC's showing at the end of the polls has proved sceptics wrong.

Mr Acquah urged the leadership and supporters of the NDC to improve upon this remarkable performance and continue to work hard for the Party to win power in the 2008 elections.

He expressed gratitude to the Party's leaders and supporters for their loyalty. "They have worked with empty stomach in the interest and love they have for the party," he added.

He said the Party has identified some shortcomings during the elections and that strategies were being worked out to address them to enable the party win the Awutu-Senya seat in the future. Mr. Acquah appealed to party members who lost in the party's primaries to throw their weight behind the winning candidates.
