A deputy Communications Director of the National Democratic Party (NDP), Ernest Owusu Bempah, says the disqualification of the Flagbearer, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings is politically motivated by the governing NDC to ensure the former first lady doesn’t pose any threat to incumbent President John Dramani Mahama.

He insists the NDC has hatched several plots against Konadu’s bid for the Presidency, as the ruling government fears, the former First Lady’s candidature was going to divide a lot of votes with the ruling government.

His views come in the wake of a study conducted by the NCCE which has established that a sizable number of Ghanaians were ready to vote for a woman as President of the country.

Speaking on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5 FM Thursday, Owusu Bempah stressed that per a survey conducted earlier by the NDP party, it was so clear the dynamics in the upcoming election was about to change, saying that it doesn’t come as a surprise that the NCCE has also done a research to corroborate the chances of the NDP Flagbearer in the upcoming elections.

“We have always remain confident of Nana Konadu’s victory in this elections, we knew she was a force to reckon in the Ghanaian politics. Before we picked a Voltarian as our running mate, a research we did showed that Konadu was going to win over 60% of votes in the Volta region. when you take the three Northern region she was going to take over 45% of votes from that part of the country.

“Nana Konadu is a walking manifesto, she has a phenomenal manifesto…and her popularity across the length and breadth of the continent is significant.

He said no wonder the NDC has colluded with the EMB to block the former first lady’s chances in the upcoming elections.

He contends the disqualification of their flagbearer is baseless hence they’ll fight it through the law courts.

“We’ll go to court and ensure that our flagbearer-Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings will appear back on the ballot paper,” he said.
