NDC primaries: Oil & gas guru eyes Yilo Krobo constituency

Albert Tetteh Nyakotey who is currently the Head of Business Development and Aviation at TOTAL Ghana, picked nomination forms last Wednesday, the 10th of July, 2019 to contest as Parliamentary Candidate on the ticket of the NDC in the Yilo Krobo Constituency.

Albert Tetteh is a consummate Sales and Supply Chain professional with over 26 years senior level experience in the Downstream oil and gas sector.

Mr. Albert Nyakotey who has mainly worked with Mobil Oil and Total Petroleum over the past 26 years, is a known philanthropist and a financier of party activities of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Yilo Krobo area. He is acknowledged to have funded the Popular Youth For Mahama (YFM) in 2014 and doled out cash to fund the management of the party in the constituency as far back as 2004.

The Oil and gas sales Professional is expected to be in a face-off with two former appointees of the former NDC adminstration: Former Board member of the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC) - Michael Ologo and Former Municipal Chief Executive for Yilo Krobo, Andrews Sodah, are also in the race for the opportunity to run on the ticket of the NDC in the Yilo Krobo Constituency.

Mr. Nyakotey who has some choice Real estate investments, is a Doctorate student in Business Management (DBA) at the Swiss Management Centre (SMC), an MBA Marketing holder and has a BA in Political Science from the University of Ghana. He has Management Training Certificates from a number of Universities in the United States and United Kingdom. He is tipped to win the Parliamentary primaries and advance to become the next MP for the area.

The man who believes in "Rising by lifting others" hails from Oluahi-Plau, a suburb in the upper part of Yilo Krobo Constituency.

Raised in a humble Krobo family that believes in giving back to society, Mr Nyakotey has been instrumental in offering support to enhance Party Members' welfare, Party Development, Human Resource Development and Social/Community Support. These deeds have shot him ahead of the other two contestants who have all attempted the Parliamentary Primaries but have been unsuccessful. Both Hon Andrews Sodah and Mr Michael Ologo have contested the Yilo Krobo NDC Primaries once and twice respectively but lost.

Albert Tetteh Nyakotey's father, Dr E.L. Nyakotey served as Deputy Minister of Finance & Economic Planning under the Dr. Hilla Liman government, and later as a World Bank, IMF and ADB Consultant. His mother was a Queen mother in Yilo Krobo, popularly Known as Manye Aku.

Albert is motivated by the vision to build a Yilo Krobo Society that has a sustainable support system for its members and is on a mission to enhance the standards of living of the people through Responsive governance, Job placement, Youth Empowerment, Gender parity and Women Development.

With Yilo Krobo being a stronghold of the NDC, the party members, chiefs and well wishers are optimistic that with Albert Nyakotey as Parliamentary Candidate, the difference in votes, between the NDC and NPP would increase in the next elections, which would eventually catapult John Dramani Mahama to victory come 2020.

Over One Thousdand, Two Hundred (1,200) delegates are expected to cast their votes on 24th August 2019.
