The Campaign manager for Professor Joshua Alabi, Victor Adawudu has re-echoed the need for the electoral committee of the opposition National Democratic Congress to exhibit fairness and transparency in the upcoming national elections of the party.

According to the lawmaker, it is imperative for all who are in charge of the electoral process to handle the process with fairness in order to prevent chaos at the polls.

“For every election, people want to see some level of fairness in the game. Those managing the process ought to be fair. If the people managing the polls are not key in such process, I don’t think even in national elections, people will be concerned about who is supervising the elections” he argued in an interview with host, Kweku Owusu Adjei on Anopa Kasapa.

He earlier called on the party leadership to give effect to provisions of the party constitution that allows grassroots participation in the election of a new flagbearer.

“Involvement of the branch executives in the flagbearer election; One of the ways of addressing some of the concerns is allowing the branches to own the party and partake in the election of their leaders. Team Alabi believes that to strengthen all structures of the party and to build a very strong party for election 2020, the grassroots represented by the Branch Executive should be deeply involved in selecting the Flagbearer.” he told a Press Conference on Thursday.

Professor Alabi is being contested by 10 other stalwarts of the NDC including former President John Mahama, second deputy Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin, former Trades minister Ekwow Spio- Garbrah, former NHIA boss Sylvester Mensah for the flagbearership position scheduled for December this year.

But Adawudu believes despite the challenging contest ahead of them, his flagbearer aspirant [Joshua Alabi] will still pull through in the flagbearership race.

“We are not scared, if I tell you there is some amount of fear in us, then am lying. In every democracy there is competition and we all know that it is only one person who will emerge as winner, therefore we are confident, Joshua Alabi will win.
