A former Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Ken Dzirasah, after assessing all the aspirants, especially, those who have not tasted the Presidency before, he has come to the conclusion that Prof. Joshua Alabi stands tall among all of them.
With Prof. Joshua Alabi in the helm of affairs as leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the former Member of Parliament (MP) for South Tongu believes that the chances of the umbrella family winning the 2020 general elections are brighter.
“I have discovered in Joshua Alabi, the personality than can carry us across the river”, he noted in an up-close interview with Bola Ray on Accra-based Starr FM, Wednesday, September 5, 2018.
He said when one looks at the profile of the former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies; one can conclude that he stands tall among all the flagbearer hopefuls of the NDC.
“Prof. Alabi is one individual I can say without fear or contradiction that when you look at the profile of the presidential aspirants, not people who have come out as President before, but they that are starting like we have them now, he is one person who has served his public due. Joshua Alabi without the intervention of the state was able to grow the Institute of Professional Studies which was a proverbial commercial college to the stature of a huge university which has become the center of reference in Africa. He did this without a pesewa from the State. This alone is enough service that merits at looking him for that favour”, he noted.
Prof. Alabi, he added, has added advantage to his credit apart from being spearheading the Institute of Professional Studies into a fully fledged university.
For instance, Prof. Alabi has been an MP, a minister of state, being with the GFA and also been a strong mover of Accra Hearts of Oak.
Prof. Joshua Alabi has the likes of the former President of the Republic, John Dramani Mahama, Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, Sylvester Mensah, Stephen Atubiga, Kweku Ricketts-Hagan, Dr. Ekow Spio-Garbrah, Goosie Tanoh, among some others to beat when the party goes to the polls in December 7 to elect their flagbearer for elections 2020.
