NDC race: Koku Anyidoho not fit for General Secretary position – Appiah Stadium

An activist of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Frank Kawaka Appiah, aka Appiah Stadium, says it will be wrong on the part of delegates of the umbrella family to vote for the former Communications Director at the Presidency, Koku Anyidoho, as the General Secretary of the party going into elections 2020.

Mr. Anyidoho, who is currently a deputy General Secretary of the Akatamansonians, according to Appiah Stadium, is not fit for the General Secretary position he is vying for.

Interacting with Accra-based Okay FM, Wednesday, September 5, 2018, Appiah Stadium expressed the belief that a vote for Koku Anyidoho as the General Secretary of the NDC will not bring any relief and enhance the chances of the party to reclaim power from the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), stressing that he (Anyidoho) is only fit for a deputy Secretary position.

He rebutted calls by the former Central Regional Chairman of the party, Allotey Jacobs, for delegates of the NDC to ensure the exit of Johnson Asiedu Nketiah when they meet on October 20, 2018 to elect their national executives that will manage the party for the next four years.

“If you look at the NDC right now, the eagle head which is a symbol of the NDC and on top of the umbrella has been taken away by the former First Lady of the Republic, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings. What is left is now being protected by the spirit of Johnson Asiedu Nketiah. So, if Allotey Jacobs says Johnson Asiedu Nketiah should go, let it be known to him that he should render unqualified to the party. In the run up to the 2016 general elections, he Allotey Jacobs contributed greatly to the loss of the NDC and President John Mahama. Now, our only pillar is Johnson Asiedu so if we are to let him go for Koku Anyidoho to takeover, then it means we want to be in opposition forever”, he noted.

He added “I am not sure that any delegate of the NDC will go and vote for Koku Anyidoho. So, if that is where Allotey Jacobs’ interest is, then he should forget it because we can’t use Koku to reclaim power from the NPP in the 2020 general elections. There are some people in the NDC who are only interested in the continuous downfall of the NDC and so whatever will help the progress of the party, they will kick against it. Without Asiedu Nketiah and John Dramani Mahama, NDC should forget about the 2020 general elections”.

Commenting further, he said the NDC is not ready for any try and error and would therefore not compromise on their upcoming elections to vote for candidates who will not be able to win power them.

For instance, he said it will be wrong for any delegate to vote for Madam Betty Mould Iddrisu for the Chairperson position when Samuel Ofosu Ampofo is there.

Similarly, it will be out of place to vote for Koku Anyidoho as General Secretary of the NDC when the “spirit of the NDC revolves around Johnson Asiedu Nketiah”.

“Left to me alone, nobody should compete with Asiedu Nketiah. If Anyidoho has gone to pick a form to contest the General Secretary position, it is not too late to go and change it for a deputy General Secretary position”, he stressed.
