A new vigilante group of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Eagle Force has been outdoored at the ongoing Congress to elect a new set of executives being held at the Trade Fair Centre in Accra in defiance to directives of the party.

This adds up to the number of vigilante groups emerging from the party after HAWKS, AZORKA BOYS, DRAGONS among others who claim their main objective is protecting members of the party against aggressions from political opponents.

MyNewsGh.com observed that members of the new group in defiance to the directive from the organisers of the event were wearing red T-shirts with the image of an eagle portraying what they indeed stand for.

It would be recalled that earlier this week, Mr Alex Segbefia, Chairman of the NDC Congress Planning Committee barred all vigilante groups from providing security delegates congress.

He was reported to have revealed that arrangements were made for security sub-committee to handle all issues of security.

“Everything is under one heading, that is, the security sub-committee with very senior stalwart people who have dealt with security for years in control of what is happening.

“We have contacted the regional command, they are fully aware and it’s safe to say that there will be security presence of a level that will meet the number of people that are coming and everything will be under control.”

The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in April this year warned both New Patriotic Party (NPP), the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and other political parties, to dissolve all vigilante groups within their respective parties.

The commission issued a statement that such a step would “avoid any further and future undemocratic activities from such groups.”
