NDC's soul will 'fight, resist' Amidu – Anyidoho

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) will resist any attempt by former Attorney General Martin Amidu to “destroy” the party, Koku Anyidoho has said.

According to the Deputy General Secretary, the party is bigger than Mr Amidu who is now trying to destroy the NDC.

Mr Anyidoho’s comment comes on the heels of series of epistles authored by Mr Amidu against his own party. The former Attorney General has described his party as corrupt and alleged that former President John Dramani Mahama appointed Mrs Charlotte Osei as chairperson of the Electoral Commission to help rig the 2016 election in favour of the NDC.

Reacting to this development on the Executive Breakfast Show (EBS) on Class91.3FM on Wednesday, 9 August 2017, Mr Anyidoho said “He [Martin Amidu] was chosen to become running mate for President Mills on the ticket of the NDC, not on the ticket of the Atta Mills family. It was the NDC that made him legal advisor to the late President Mills, it is the NDC that gave him the opportunity to become Attorney General and Minister of Justice and he wants to destroy that NDC? The NDC’s soul is bigger than the soul of A.B.K. Amidu and the NDC soul will fight and resist Martin A.B.K. Amidu. We wish him well but he will not succeed.”

Meanwhile, Mr Anyidoho says a petition filed by two members of the party against Mr Amidu has been referred to the Disciplinary Committee of the party for the next line of action to be taken.

The two petitioners Evans Amankwah, lawyer and 2016 parliamentary candidate for Adansi Asokwa and Abigail Elorm Mensah, a 2016 parliamentary candidate for Fanteakwa South, want Mr Amidu sanctioned for his utterances against the party.
