NDC should have disregarded fine; our families need money - ‘Montie 3’

The three incarcerated National Democratic Congress (NDC) activists now known as ‘Montie 3’ have said their families needed the paid 10,000 fine each hence the ruling NDC should have shunned its payment and allow them serve an additional one month jail term.

According to the trio, spending an extra month in jail wouldn’t make a difference to the harm the 4 months jail term would do to their lives hence do not see the need for the NDC paying such an amount to the court.

Speaking to an NDC youth Group, ‘Great Democrats’ from the Nsawam Prisons upon their visit, Salifu Maase aka Mugabe host of “Pampaso,” a political programme on an Accra-based radio station, Montie FM pleaded with the NDC supporters to exercise patience and avoid pressuring the president to intervene in their sentence.

‘Please allow the president to concentrate on winning this year’s elections. Don’t put pressure on him to exercise his constitutional mandate in getting us out. If in his own will, he acts as such, accepted but don’t pressure him. But seriously why did the NDC pay the fine? We have left our families behind and they need and will need money pretty soon so why waste such an amount when the harm has already been done. That money is really big and would have made our families happy a bit’ Mugabe told the group.

The trio noted they hold no bitterness in them and would continue to project the works of President Mahama even in the prisons to ensure a success for the NDC in the December 7th polls.
