Supporters of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) who thronged the Black Star Square in Accra on Monday to observe the inauguration of President John Dramani Mahama, have expressed delight at the way arrangements were made by the State Protocol Department.
Jubilant supporters who spoke with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) said the swearing-in ceremony was very colourful and successful.
Mr Nicholas Derry, resident of Accra and supporter of NDC, said the State Protocol Department were up to the task and they ensured that everything was done according to the agenda on the main programme.
He also commended the security personnel for ensuring the safety of thousands of Ghanaians and party supporters and other dignitaries who witnessed the ceremony.
He said even though the crowd at the Square was 'thick', the security personnel were able to control them and it was a big plus for the ceremony.
Mr Kwaku Asante, who came from Kintampo in the Brong Ahafo Region, was also of the opinion that the swearing-in ceremony was very successful.
He added that as a patriotic citizen, he also attended the inaugural ceremonies of former President John Agyekum Kufuor in January 2005 and that of the late President Mills in January 2009 but that of this year was very different.
"We are happy that the inauguration of President John Dramani Mahama has come to an end without any hitch and we asked for prayers to the President so that he would be able to deliver on his better Ghana Agenda promise", he said.
