'NDC turning our youthful years into useless years'

Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Samuel Awuku is blaming government for the growing unemployment among the youth.

He said it is lamentable, government instead of creating an enabling environment for the youth; is rather busy doling out monies to its cronies in the name of judgement debt.

Sammy Awuku’s comment is in reaction to government’s assertion that Ghana’s economy is booming contrary to claims by the NPP that the economy is in "tatters".

Deputy Information Minister, Murtala Mohammed at the daily press briefing at the presidency Thursday disclosed that the progress of the economy is evident by the increase in the national reserves and the stability in the import cover.

But speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Friday, Sammy Awuku described as a "mockery and strange", government claims when the situation on the ground proves otherwise.

He contended that the living standards of Ghanaians keep dwindling everyday due to the abysmal performance of the John Mahama-led administration.

Sammy Awuku stated that such useless propaganda and bare lies from government rather infuriate the suffering masses who cannot make ends meet.

He bemoaned how the Mahama-led administration has rendered the youth hopeless due to its inability to create jobs for the teeming unemployed graduates in the country.

"NDC is turning our youthful years into useless years; Ghanaians are suffering but government is rather playing propaganda with the economy," he stressed.

He noted that Ghana’s economic problems are in disarray as a result of the reckless expenditures on the part of government just to win political power.

The NPP youth activist added that the myriad of problems being faced by the youth if not checked, the dire consequences could be deadly.

Sammy Awuku said if government claims the economy is booming, Ghanaians will be the best judges.
