The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has vowed to extradite Aisha Huang popularly known as 'Galamsey Queen' to face the laws of the country.

This was revealed by the Member of Parliament for North Tongu constituency, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.

The former Deputy Minister of Information who was speaking on Joy FM's Newsfile programme, Saturday, said it is a "decision of the party to bring back Aisha Huang to be prosecuted" and he had the "permission" of the former President and flagbearer of their party, John Dramani Mahama to make it public.

"This will be done when they win power in 2020," he indicated.

“I have the permission of my party leadership to announce that a future NDC government will trigger extradition processes for Aisha Huang to be brought back to face our laws; to be prosecuted in Ghana and I have the full backing of our flagbearer to make this announcement. We will pursue it” he further added.

Hon Ablakwa was speaking to the controversies surrounding a comment made by Senior Minister, Yaw Osafo Maafo during a town hall meeting in the United States of America. (Click to read)

Some critics who have analyzed the Senior Minister’s statement says his comment should be singled out because that is not the official stand of government.

However, Okudzeto Ablakwa believes Mr Osafo Maafo’s comment could be a secret that has been ‘let out of the bag’.

“…that is why I believe the Osafo Maafo statement is not a gaffe; he only put out what is obvious…this is a government conduct...a government position…maybe Osafo was not supposed to let the cat out of the bag. Now we have the statement of the senior minister standing".

According to him, “we all cherish China relations…. (but in China) they enforce their laws; they do not spare…economic considerations should not stop you from enforcing your laws"

“…we are hearing that apart from her illegal mining, there is also the issue of murder and other offences or more; we don’t want to create the impression that Ghana is a banana republic, you can come in and kill our people…” he added.

Mission Impossible

Speaking to this on the same platform, the Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Kweku Baako Jnr says the NDC's quest to bring back the 'Galamsey Queen' if they come back to office, is a "mission impossible".

According to him, "they (Chinese government) will never give you Aisha".
