NDC vows to reject BOST committee report if MD is not interdicted

MP for Bongo, Edward Bawa MP for Bongo, Edward Bawa

Member of Parliament for the Bongo Constituency in the Northern Region, Mr. Edward Bawa, says the manager of Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation (BOST), Mr. Alfred Obeng, should be interdicted in order for the committee to carry out investigations into the contaminated fuel saga.

Mr Obeng has been accused of selling contaminated fuel to two unregistered companies leading to the loss of millions of cedis.

Subsequently, there have been calls for Obeng Boateng to be interdicted over the whole controversy.

According to Mr. Bawa, workers and engineers experienced in the field had advised Mr. Obeng on several occasions on the transactions but he paid deaf ears to their counsel.

He also explained that the Minority wants him to be interdicted for investigations to be carried out smoothly without the workers feeling intimidated.

He added that the committee will need the workers at BOST to volunteer information as to what they know about the shady transaction.

Mr. Bawa said further that the presence of the BOST manager during investigations will only make the workers feel uneasy and not cooperate with the committee.

He then pointed out that the Minority will not accept findings of the committee if the BOST manager is not interdicted.
