In a response to the current bruhaha over what has now become the “Appiah Stadium Palaver,” the General Secretary of the opposition NDC, Mr. Johnson Asiedu-Nketiah, has challenged the ruling NPP to come clean on the allegation that it has been using state resources to sponsor serial callers of the party. Additionally, Mr. Asiedu-Nketiah has asked the NPP to provide the nation with compelling evidence that will clear the minds of the people once and for all. In a telephone interview with this paper yesterday, the NDC Gen. Secretary, also known as Gen. Mosquito, did not mince words as he rubbished the NPP’s rebuttal on the matter.
He said the current position of the NPP that it does not know the gentleman currently at the centre of the matter does not hold water, as the ruling party had at some time dealt with the serial caller one way or the other. He said evidences abound that serial caller Appiah Stadium is not only a well known name in the NPP circles but also have been plying his trade via the support of the government.
“For them [NPP] to come out and say that they do not know any serial caller doesn’t wash because Appiah Stadium is known to have been ferried to radio stations under security guards with security vehicles and so on,” Mr. Asiedu-Nketiah emphasised. Aside, Gen. Mosquito said other questions regarding the allegations still remain unanswered by the ruling party.
Among such questions, Gen. Mosquito noted included the open claim by the NPP serial caller that he (Stadium) has close association with the President Kufuor and payed regular visits to the President’s private residence and the claim that he (serial caller) provided information to the President that led to the ousting of the former Information Minister, Mr. Dan Botwe. All these, Gen. Mosquito said the NPP has not come to deny. Hitting the NPP with more blows, the NDC scribe said until the ruling party is able to answer the said questions, the matter will continue to remain like an albatross on the neck of the NPP.
He said he could not vouch on the credibility of whatever Appiah Stadium is saying, arguing that whatever be the case the NPP could not exonerate itself from the allegations, adding, “ if it is a fraud, is it a fraud that has been carried along by NPP as credible to do some hatchet work for them?
