NFED facilitators rewarded

New Abirim (E/R), Mar. 23, GNA -Fifty-eight facilitators of the Non-Formal Education Division (NFED) of the Ministry of Education and Sports in the Birim North District were on Wednesday presented with a total a packet each of roofing sheets by the government at a ceremony at New Abirim.

The items, valued at 46.4 million cedis were to serve as incentives to the facilitators in recognition of their hard work.

Presenting the items, the District Co-ordinator of the NFED, Mr Ernest Ofori Amanfo, commended the facilitators for working voluntarily to train about 1,450 people to become functionally literate in addition to some income generating activities.

He said the incentives were not given on a silver platter, adding that only facilitators who satisfied the criteria for the award benefited from the package and urged others to strive to work harder to merit future awards.

Mr Ofori Amanfo mentioned some of the criteria for the awards as a facilitator must attend classes for at least 300 to 400 hours per cycle and delivered lesson content according to the facilitators' guide, among others.

The District Co-ordinating Director, Alhaji Ibrahim Tijani, appealed to the facilitators to work diligently to help improve living conditions in the rural communities. He was optimistic that the incentives would motivate the beneficiaries to give of their best. Alhaji Tijani appealed to them to take good care of other items such as motor bikes entrusted into their care in other to prolong their life span.
