The Tain Development Foundation (TDF) has made a donation of firefighting gears to the Brong Ahafo Regional Command of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).
Items donated included firefighting jackets, trousers and boots worth 3000 euros.
The Organizer of TDF, Mr. Victor Kalala told Suncity News’ Kofi Oppong Kyekyeku that this will not be the last time that they will embark on such a philanthropic activity.
He said: “My container had an accident and the fire service came to my aid. Upon interaction with them…I got to know that they are in need of some of the items that I had. As an indigene of the Brong Ahafo Region, I and my partners will do all we can to help them when the need arises. I do not think this will be the last time.”
Mr. Victor Kalala revealed that 201 firefighting jackets, 140 trousers and 40 boots will be donated to Fire Volunteers at Badu and Bepoayaase in the Tain district.
The Brong-Ahafo Regional Commander of the Ghana National Fire Service, Assistant Chief Fire Officer (ACFO) James Owusu-Adjei, who received the items, thanked Mr. Victor Kalala and his NGO for their kind gesture.
ACFO Owusu-Adjei used the opportunity to also thank the personnel of the Service for their efforts to help reduce fire cases in the region.
He stressed that the Service will work hard to reduce fire cases to the barest minimum in the year 2018.
