NGO predicts outbreak of violence in Chireponi

A civil society organization, SEND GHANA, has warned of a possible outbreak of violence in Chireponi in the Northern region.

The caution comes in the wake of a chieftaincy dispute in Bimbilla in the same region that has claimed the lives of at least three persons including the chief of Bimbilla.

According to the peace building officer of SEND GHANA in the region, Dan Kansaki, the already volatile situation has been exacerbated by the enskinment of two rival chiefs by the paramount chief of Yendi.

Speaking to XYZ News’ Northern Regional correspondent, Kizito Abagoame, Dan Kansaki said informing security officials about the impending implosion in the area has been extremely difficult.

Meanwhile, a security analyst, Isaac Bayor is worried about the politicization of conflicts in northern Ghana.

He tells XYZ News the phenomenon has contributed to the challenges thwarting efforts to restore peace to some communities experiencing conflicts.

The national coordinator of the West African Network for Peace Building in Ghana says it is important politicians eschew scoring political points with conflicts in some communities and rather assist in resolving them
