The District Chief Executive for Akatsi North in the Volta region, James Gunu, has called on National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) registrants whose names were expunged from the voters’ register and re-registered during the re-registration exercise to reject the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the forthcoming elections.

According to him, that will be the only way those NHIS registrants who were eventually enrolled back unto the electoral roll could use to punish the NPP.

Speaking to Starr News’ Volta Regional correspondent, Lambert Atsivor, he said: “Ghanaians whose names were deleted from the voters’ register for using the NHIS card to register in the previous registration exercise but have been successful in the re-registration exercise, must swear never to vote for Nana Addo and the NPP in their life time.”

“Those names were published by the EC on the orders of the Supreme Court and the NPP got them. The NPP still do not believe that they were Ghanaians. And that all of them voted and would continue to vote for President Mahama and the NDC. These are the first to be repatriated by the NPP in an unlikely event that the NPP wins the 2016 general elections,” he added.

Meanwhile, the EC has revealed that it has re-registered 52 percent of the over 56,000 deleted National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) registrants onto the electoral register, while a total of 2173 out of the 3882 persons have successfully gotten their names back on the voters register in the region.
