NHS means a lot in times of need - Adjei-Yeboah

Accra, Jan. 19, GNA - Mr Andrews Adjei-Yeboah, Member for Tano South, has urged Ghanaians to enrol on the National Health Insurance Scheme register in order to enjoy its numerous benefits in time of need. "How blessed and lucky you would be as a member of the National Health Insurance Scheme when you are broke at a time when you are sick. As a registered member you need not go aborrowing and become a slave to a village or suburb shylock."

Mr Adjei-Yeboah, who is also a Deputy Minister of Lands, Forestry and Mines, was addressing his constituents during his pre-parliamentary session outreach programme over the weekend. He visited more than 22 communities in his constituency including Atechemu and Adum Electoral areas in Bechem, Brosonkro old town, Brimi, Mansin, and Ohiaanimaguase.

He said the scheme would become stronger if the majority of Ghanaians patronized it adding; "we are encouraging ourselves to save for a rainy day".

The Member, who had already paid premiums for 100 regular people and 100 elderly people under the scheme, plans to pay premiums for 200 regular and 200 elderly more this year. He said the state of the health of the people would determine their level of productivity and even reasoning hence his decision to use part of the Members of Parliament share of the District Assemblies' Common Fund to that effect.

He commended the people for staying faithful to the Government and said finding solutions to their concerns would remain the focus of the New Patriotic Party administration.

The Deputy Minister asked them to stay focused since there were so much misinformation and distractions in the system. In another development the Member has awarded scholarships worth millions of cedis to 80 students of the Techimantia Presbyterian and Bechem Presbyterian Senior Secondary Schools in the Tano District. The package, which takes care of their tuition, would see them throughout their entire secondary education. An independent jury made up of locally based educationists selected the needy but intelligent students.
