GhanaWeb can confirm that the incumbent Member of Parliament of Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo has won the keenly contested parliamentary primary of the New Patriotic Party in the constituency.

Facing a stiff competition from Ghana’sAmbassador to India, Adwoa Safo beat Dr. Oquaye Junior by polling 496 of the valid votes, whiles Mr Oquaye garnered 488 with 5 votes being rejected.

The 8-point gap between the two confirms what was from the beginning tipped to be a highly contested event.
Mr Mike Oquaye Jr gave the Deputy Minority Leader of Parliament quite a scare.

This is the second time the two have gone toe to toe for the party’s constituency candidature as Mr Oqauye lost their first battle in 2008 when his father, the then Member of Parliament and current Speaker of Parliament Professor Mike Oquaye Senior was leaving parliament.
