On Friday, 18th July, 2014, national executives of the New Patriotic Party visited some selected Muslim communities to donate food items to them.
The National Chief Imam warmly welcomed the party's General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong, the National Nasara coordinator, Mr. Kamal-Deen Abdulai and other top executives.
The donation was to encourage all Muslims during this period of Ramadan. Twenty (20) bags of rice and hundred (100) liters of vegetable cooking oil were presented to National Imam. GHC 1000 was also added to the package.
In a brief chat with the His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Osman Nuhu Sharubutu at his residence, Mr. Kwabena Agyepong applauded him for his demonstrable lifestyle which has brought peace on Ghana.
He added that it was vital to seek the face of God during this period of fasting.
Mr. Kamal-Deen Abdulai also took the opportunity to formally introduce himself to the Chief Imam, whom he affectionately referred to as “my father”. According to him, the purpose of the meeting was to greet the national chief imam and offer him items which would help him and his stewards during this period of fasting.
He described the donation as an annual ritual performed by the NPP, but maintained that it was performed from the heart. “This is a donation from our hearts and not a cosmetic practice aimed at receiving blessing from God and not praises from man," Mr. Kamal-Deen Abdulai posited.
His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Osman Nuhu Sharubutu blessed the party’s effort and revealed that he has always been praying for the nation. “If Ghana is in peace then, I am also at peace," he stated.
The party executives also visited the Abubakar Siddiq Mosque to also donate items to them. They were received and given the opportunity to speak to the gathering at the mosque.
