Typical and reminiscent of the New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament for Assin Fosu Kenneth Agyepong, he has launched his strongest ?attack? ever on the party's Ashanti regional delegates after the recently held delegates? congress. The verbal attack by Hon. Agyepong came just hours after official declaration of results of the delegates congress held at the University of Ghana, Legon over the weekend
He was speaking in an interview with a Kumasi based radio station Hello FM 102.1 during their morning news at 6:00am.
Ken Agyepong in his usual fearless and critical style poured his venom on air, attacking the Ashanti regional delegates of the party for voting against the man he described as hardworking and committed to the course of the N.P.P, Peter Mac Manu.
?This is a man who committed material and financial resources to help the party since the era of Prof. Adu Boahen in 1992 and deserved to be rewarded accordingly? he stated.
Papa Ken, as he is affectionately called, was so critical of the regional N.P.P although he did not provide any empirical evidence to support his claim that the Ashanti regional delegates voted en block for Stephen Ntim and against Mac Manu.
?This party needs leaders who will remain committed to its course whether rain or shine and those are the exact people we've elected led by Peter Mac Manu?.
In a strong show of his fearless character Hon. Ken Agyepong told Hello FM's Bobie Ansah, ?I'm disappointed in Ashanti N.P.P, if they can vote against Mac Manu then God save all of us, I've spoken my mind and I don't fear anybody neither do I seek any political appointment? he stressed.
He expressed absolute happiness about the crop of executives elected, saying their election has greatly enhanced the party's chances in 2008.
He told the Hello FM new presenter that he was very much in a celebration mood and was enjoying a bottle of wine.
After the radio interview, ?The Servant? called Hon. Ken via cell phone to find out if he had any empirical evidence to support his claim that Ashanti N.P.P voted against Peter Mac Manu.
He said he made his judgment based on the reaction of the Ashanti delegates during the time of intense campaigning and lobbying the night to the elections.
When we spoke to the Ashanti delegates their facial expressions and general reception was enough to put us off, whiles those who were willing gave us very good responses and reception.
The Ashanti regional chairman was contacted he said the MP was only expressing his personal view, but did not believe he had any evidence to support his claim, remember the entire voting procedure was secret hence it would be difficult for any body to see how the delegates voted individually.
I think the MP is only pulling the legs of the Ashanti delegates he added
