The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Ayensuano Constituency in the Eastern Region, Samuel Ayeh-Paye has survived an assassination attempt by some unknown gun men.

Reports say the incident occurred on Monday at the MP’s family house at Otoase in his constituency.

The MP who spoke to Accra-based Adom FM, narrated that some unidentified men over the weekend stormed his residence at night and fired several gun shots into his house, injuring one person in the process.

He says parts of his block and other windows have been completely damaged due to the bullets that were fired at the house.

He explained that there have been some secret plots on his life ever since he stopped the construction of a public toilet facility opposite his family house in the constituency.

He says the queenmother of the area had earlier ordered a construction of public toilet just opposite his family house, which he stopped due to its health implications.

The lawmaker says the queen mother who was behind the toilet facility then got peeved about his actions.

Thus, he suspects she is the one behind the latest gun attack.

"She hired some land guards who sprayed bullets and wreaked havoc on my family house,” the MP said.

He further stated: “What is surprising was that, the land guards kept asking my family members of my whereabouts but I was lucky I had returned to Accra.
But one of my nephews sustained serious gunshot wounds”.

The NPP MP expressed shock at the development, insisting that the queenmother is his own cousin and they could have solved the issue amicably.

“The queen mother and the Chief in the town are at loggerheads so I have stopped going to the palace. But she has always been accusing me of conniving with the chief,” the legislator lamented.

The MP revealed that he is currently living in fear and he is appealing for security protection for himself and his family members in the constituency.
