An Independent Presidential Candidate in the 2012 election Jacob Osei Yeboah has tagged both the ruling National Democratic Congress [NDC] and opposition New Patriotic Party [NPP] as electoral thieves.
To him, calls by the NPP for a new voter register are “totally rubbish” and must not be entertained by the Electoral Commission.
“Any attempt by the EC to consider a new voters register will rather cause problems for the state in future if not studied well,” Jacob maintained.
In an interview with Peacefmonline.com Jacob Osei Yeboah also known as “JOY 2012” was emphatic that – “Both NPP and NDC are not making any sense on the voters register but rather preparing the nation for Armageddon”.
The NPP has for some time been calling for a new voters register for the 2016 general elections stating among other things that current data lacked credibility because it is fraught with ghost names and foreign nationals, especially from neighbouring Togo, Burkina Faso and La Cote d’Ivoire.
On Tuesday, the party, led by its Vice Presidential candidate, Dr. Mahumudu Bawumia, buttressed their argument by revealing that the current voters register is flooded with 76,286 Togolese nationals whose identity were found in the Togo Voters Register.
The ruling NDC has kicked against the motive by the NPP for a new voters register – the party questioned why the NPP never raised that objection during the 2012 election petition case.
