Emotional tributes from individuals and family characterised a solemn memorial service held for late former Vice President Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur.

Kwesi Amissah-Arthur who was buried today at the Burma camp military cemetery died on June 29, 2018, after he collapsed at the Airforce Gym in Accra during a workout session.

Hundreds of Ghanaians from all walks of life thronged the Accra International Conference Centre to pay their last respects the late Vice President.

Former President Jerry John Rawlings, John Agyekum Kufuor and John Dramani Mahama were part of the gathering present to pay their last respects to the former Vice President and to commiserate with his family.

Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu and NDC National Chairperson, Kofi Portuphy led members of the main opposition party to the service.



NPP’s General Secretary, John Boadu was also accompanied by other party leaders and members to pay their last respects to the late Vice President.

Amissah-Arthur who died at 67, was appointed Governor of the Bank of Ghana in October 2009 by late President John Atta Mills.



He held the position until August 6, 2012, when he became Vice-President of Ghana following the death of late President Atta Mills.



He is survived by a wife and two children.
