Two-time independent presidential candidate, Joseph Osei Yeboah (JOY) has stated Ghana’s democracy can thrive without political parties which he claimed have significantly caused the country developmental problems.
He said the National Democratic Congress and the New Patriotic Party have over the years come to power under the pretext of development but end up exploiting Ghanaians without any plans of developing the country.
“I dare say without equivocation that indeed the political parties belong to the old ideas and unfit even to deepen democracy in Ghana, left alone building a nation. For democracy is not an end but a means to an end of building a nation” he said at a news conference.
According to him, political parties have long held on to ideas that are out of date, hence the need to look beyond them in elections.
He said political parties are only concerned about winning political power, noting they operate currently without any principle even as laid down by their forebears.
“They are busy and vuvuzela about nothing except business of deceit, lies, greed, loot, state vampirism and worst off, their operations depict as nation wreckers,” JOY told journalists Tuesday.
He recounted how Kwame Nkrumah was able to stand his grounds in the face of colonialism and gained independence for Ghana but observed that the current political leaders cannot sustain the independence, and rather leading the country to doom.
“For our neocolonial masters, especially the NPP and NDC, during this 4th Republic are rather leading Ghana into the valley of darkness. In this darkness is where sincere ignorance being exhibited by the masses, whilst deceit, gargantuan corruption and conscientious stupidity are being opprobriously perpetrated by the political parties,” he said.
According to him, there is the need for Ghanaians to rethink the options available to them when it comes to choosing leaders for the country.
He predicted the 2020 election, which he calls “Election of Armageddon,” will for the first time in the fourth republic, choose an option aside the NPP and NDC.
“Make no mistake, the 2020 Election in Ghana is Election of Armageddon; an election that will be no more about NPP and NDC,” he said.
Mr. Osei said Ghanaians will not be interested to choose out any of the two parties he described as “devils”.
He called for support to change the fortunes of the country and restore it to the vision of Kwame Nkrumah.
“…we are never discouraged, knowing that as we continue to lay the sacred stones of liberty and Nation building, the old ideas that keep political parties trammeled under greed and corruption will be defeated to fulfill the vision and purpose of the 1st destiny of motion”
