NPP Not Alternative -Man of God

Resolving Ghana’s Challenges

As the New Patriotic Party persistently boast of being the government-in-waiting confident of solving the ills of the nation after the 2016 polls, Founder and Head Pastor of Perfect Will of God, Rev Bernard Ayikwei Okai, says the biggest opposition party is “not the alternative” to the ruling National Democratic Congress.

According to the renowned man of God, problems of the country are deep-rooted and did not begin today, insisting that the NPP cannot claim to have a panacea to transform the country when voted into power.

He said, if standing-up to governments were solutions for curing a country’s ills as functionaries of the NPP are trumpeting, “Ghana would have by now been a problem-free nation because since independence we’ve changed a lot of governments.”

Rev Ayikwei Okai noted “If changing of President is the solution to Ghana’s problems, then we’ve had several of them. The NPP cannot claim to be the alternative to solving problems facing this country…they benefited from a change in government in 2000, if that was the solution, I believe they’d have solved all the problems we are facing and the party wouldn’t have been kicked out of government in 2008.”

“Kwame Nkrumah came, we accorded him all sort of nice accolades but at the end of the day we turned round to say we don’t need him, so we changed him. Acheampong, Busia, Liman, Rawlings, Kufuor and Mills came, we hailed them from the beginning and at the end we called for their changed. So all along we’ve been changing presidents but the problems remain the say, the problem facing us now is not about changing Mahama,” he explained.

Rev Ayikwei Okai stated that if Ghanaians, particularly the opposition parties, would shelve their cynicism and support President Mahama, he will deliver on the ‘Better Ghana Agenda’, which according to the man of God, was “a divine message God bequeathed to the late President Mills to liberate the country”.

The man of God, who calls himself ambassador of the ‘Better Ghana Agenda’, revealed that the late president’s campaign slogan which President Mahama inherited has a spiritual backing that must be implemented to the latter. He said despite the temporal challenges facing the Mahama administration, “God is with him. The God that started with him will see him through. The President will live to tell the success story of his administration. President Mahama is just an agent of the spiritual message God gave the late President Mills. The God that gave that message will not disappoint him.”

Commenting on recent comment by President Mahama that he is “dead goat who is not afraid of knife”, the Man of God stated that the President ought not to have used that phrase saying “aside the constitutional mandate as the President and commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces, he is also the spiritual head of the land.”

“God appointed him. God does not appoint dead people. He is not a dead goat and can never be one. He will live to tell his story. The dust is about to settle…Ghana is about to takeoff. Nations are not only ruled by micro and macro-economic policies but by the divine authority deposited in leaders,” he noted.
