NPP Philadelphia Launched

The New Patriotic Party – USA Chapter (NPP- USA) has increased its number
of branches with the inauguration of the Philadelphia branch. The
inauguration was attended by members of the branch, sympathizers, friends
of the Kukurudu family and a cross section of Ghanaians living in the
Delaware Valley. NPP –Philadelphia has membership from South Jersey,
Pennsylvania and Delaware.

Chairman of NPP- Philadelphia, Lawyer Edward Osie was thankful to members
for the renewed sense of interest in the party and assured them that the
party is working very diligently to ensure the return to power. He cited
many examples of incompetence, corruption and disregard for the interest of
the country in the current government that has brought untold hardships to
Ghanaians. He reiterated the campaign promises of the party and the flag
bearer in the elections. The promise of free secondary education is a must
as the country seeks to reduce the high levels of illiteracy in the
country. “Nana Akuffo has shown through his works in the private and public
sectors that he is an achiever and a goal getter and when elected he will
push Ghana towards a developed economy in Africa” he said.

General Secretary of NPP – Philadelphia, Kweku Mensah Acquah challenged
members to keep the high enthusiasm and make conscious effort within their
individual circles to ensure victory for the party. He shared personal
stories of triumphs that local chapters endure back home and urged members
to support their constituencies with every support, because it was crucial
that the party wins the presidency and ensure a comfortable majority in
parliament.

Special Guest of honor and keynote address was delivered by Lawyer
Professor Henry Akwasi Prempeh, a law Professor at Seton Hall, University.
The speaker remark and overview about current situation in Ghana,
accountability, democratic governance and the upcoming election. He dared
the NPP not to underestimate the machinations of the NDC especially as they
go into the elections as incumbents with all the resources and strength as
government in power. He was however confident since Ghanaians have been
seen all they can do, they will surely vote them out of power. There was
solidarity messages from NPP –USA, NPP –New York, NPP – Worcester to
wish NPP – Philadelphia well.

Since the reactivation of the branch, NPP – Philadelphia has been visited
by party big wigs such Ken Ofori Atta Chairman of Databank financial
services and Director of Fund raising for Nana Akuffo Addo campaign for
election 2012. The branch has also been visited by Minority Chief Whip and
Member of Parliament for Suhum constituency Hon. Frederick Opare Ansah. A
team made up Chairman Edward Osei, John Kwakye, Kweku Mensah Acquah, Mrs.
Joyce Awuku Darko Osie, Mrs. Jessie Anning and Ernest Tanoh aka Agya Sei
met with the Flag bearer Nana Akuffo Addo on his recent trip to the United
States.
