The incumbent Member of Parliament for Jomoro Constituency in the Western Region, Paul Essien is hot as Moses Andoh, the polling station chairman for Elubo RC Primary School Block B, has vowed to unseat him.

Mr. Paul Essien was elected as the NPP Parliamentary candidate in 2015 with 11 votes margin and subsequently won the Jomoro parliamentary seat in 2016 for the first time for NPP in the history Ghana's politics.

President Akufo-Addo in 2017 appointed Paul Essien as a Deputy Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs for winning the Jomoro parliamentary seat for the party.

Thousands of party faithful and delegates accompanied Hon. Moses Andoh to pick his nomination forms at the party office at Half Assini over the weekend amidst brass band music and dance.

Addressing the enthusiastic gathering, the former Assembly Member for Elubo West Electoral Area, Hon. Moses Andoh asked God to bless the polling station executives and some party bigwigs for supporting him to pick his nomination forms to contest the MP.

He disclosed his intention of contesting in the party's parliamentary primaries to make his party attractive.

"My picking of nomination forms to contest the NPP parliamentary primaries is a bold step aimed at making the party stronger and better".

He stated that, "Since 1992, the Leaders of the NPP in Jomoro have worked tirelessly to build an enviable and a united party that eventually won the parliamentary seat for the first time in 2016".

"Our hope and aspiration was that the party was going to grow from strength to strength, thereby brightening our chance of retaining the parliamentary seat", he added.

"However that has eluded the NPP in Jomoro. There are serious cracks and divisions within the party. These divisions are likely to cause the NPP the seat should we go to the December polls with the same candidate", he emphasized.

"There is therefore the need for a rescue mission to retain the seat. I have come to rescue the Party and maintain the seat for the New Patriotic Party. My vision is to Rescue the Party, build unity and Maintain the Parliamentary seat for the NPP to ensure that Jomoro receives the needed development", he said.

He, also took the opportunity to appeal to his followers to do a clean campaign devoid of insults and personal attacks.

"I plead with my teaming supporters to go about their campaign in civility and decency devoid of anarchy and rancor. Do not insult other contenders, but rather let us engage in issue based campaign. This is a family affair", he stressed.

"You may not be able to campaign for someone you insulted during the primaries should that person win the primaries in the general election", he added.

"I have come to serve you with humility, I have come to unite the rank and file of the party, I have come to retain the seat because the NPP is in my blood, I am founding member of TESCON in Legon in 2000, a member of the 2016 campaign team. I contested and won the Elubo West Electoral Area as an Assemblyman in the 2010 and 2015 District level elections representing the people of Elubo West at the Jomoro Distric/Municipal Assembly, I have rich experience to become MP for Jomoro to support President Akufo-Addo to develop this Constituency from 2021 to 2025, please have confidence in me and I will deliver, thank you", he concluded.

The NPP has opened nomination forms for their sitting Members of Parliament and the party is expected to hold its parliamentary elections on Saturday, April 25, 2020

The NPP has 169 sitting Members of Parliament out of the total 275 seats in Parliament.
