The NPP Parliamentary Candidate for the Savelugu Constituency of the Northern Region, Hajia Fatahiya Abdul Aziz, has constructed mechanized boreholes in six communities in the Savelugu Constituency to alleviate the suffering of the people.

The communities include Yilikpani, Nyoglo, Pon-Tamale, Gushee, Diare Lagos, and Diare Nayilifong.

The people in the constituency have been battling a water crisis for several months, a problem they have faced for decades due to the low water level largely contributed by climate change in the area.

However, the NPP Parliamentary Candidate has made various efforts to address the scarcity of water in the area.

The construction of the mechanized boreholes is part of the NPP Savelugu PC's efforts to solve the perennial water crisis in the constituency. She has already commissioned many mechanized boreholes in some communities and sponsored the dredging and expansion of many dams in the constituency. She also provided two water tanker trucks to assist in the daily distribution of water to the people.

During the commissioning of the mechanized boreholes in one of the beneficiary communities, Hajia Fatahiya reiterated that the water problems in the area will soon be a thing of the past, emphasizing that providing good potable drinking water is her number one priority. She stated, "I am going to make sure that every community gets its share of these boreholes so that we can solve this water problem."

She explained that the distance women travel to fetch water and the hours spent searching for water affect productivity, especially for women. She added that the provision of these mechanized boreholes will not only improve economic livelihoods but also protect the communities from water-borne diseases.

The NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Savelugu urged the people to protect and use the mechanized boreholes wisely in order to increase their lifespan.

She also took the opportunity to highlight some of the pro-poor policies of the NPP government and urged the people to vote for her and the NPP Flagbearer, H.E. Alhaji Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia in the upcoming December 7th elections.

The people expressed their joy and gratitude to the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for addressing one of their critical needs even before becoming an MP, noting that Hajia Fatahiya, in addition to the mechanized boreholes, is also helping women through various interventions.

"We are indeed very grateful for your good works. Your proactive efforts and dedication to solving our problems will not go to waste. We will definitely do the needful, Insha Allah, come December 7th," assured Memuna Iddrisu, a women leader.

Hajia Fatahiya was accompanied by the Municipal Chief Executive of Savelugu, Hajia Ayisghetu Seidu, and some constituency executives of the NPP.
