NPP Should Be Wary of Their Actions Or…

A leading member of the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) communication team, Fred Abgenyo, has cautioned the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to be wary of their actions and utterances or get reactions of equal measure from the NDC.

Fred Agbenyo could not understand why just before the declaration of the 2012 election results, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, General Secretary of the NPP asked supporters to go out in jubilation only to turn around in less than twenty-four hours to claim the election was rigged.

“If you are an NDC member and after election results are declared you come out to say you do not understand, you have no other option than to go to court,” he said, adding that this applies to the NPP also.

“We are bound by the constitution, anything contrary to that means you have taken the law into your hands...so other people would rise up the same way in the defense of the constitution and tell you to go back and follow the due process in the constitution,” he added.

He said this on an Accra based radio station, Hot FM on Thursday.

“I don’t have a problem with the NPP going to court and I was therefore happy, but my problem was the attack on the media and the destruction to property that characterized the actions of their supporters days after filing a petition in the Supreme Court,” the NDC communicator indicated.

He further advised the NPP to focus their attention on the court case and stop the threats and unnecessary insults, as Ghanaians want peace.

He cautioned that the NDC would not take any unlawful action from the NPP lightly.
