NPP-USA Congratulates Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo

The just ended national congress of our party has been such a success story that clearly demonstrates the democratic tenets and principles of our tradition: the United Party tradition. The electoral college of over 140,000 delegates that went to the polls to elect our flagbearer has been nothing less than a phenomenal political accomplishment, unheard of across the African continent.

NPP-USA would like to congratulate Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on his emphatic win in the just ended primaries. This victory is a re-affirmation of our party’s belief in him as a formidable candidate for the 2016 elections. The popular support that Nana Addo enjoys as shown by the results is an indication of how the NPP and fellow Ghanaians have resolved to make his selfless and patriotic dream and aspirations for Ghana a reality.

We applaud the contestants - Alan Kwadwo Kyeremateng and Francis Addai Nimo – on the level of political maturity that was exhibited by these fine gentlemen of our party. We very much acknowledge their sense of commitment to safeguarding the unity of our party amidst the high political temperature during their campaigns. This indeed got our party to sail through this exercise successfully without any record of untidy chaos. Also, the acceptance of the results by Alan Kyeremateng and Francis Addai Nimo is very much cherished, and especially so, when Mr. Kyeremateng called Nana Akufo-Addo to congratulate him shortly after the results came out.

Their acceptance speeches during the declaration at the Efua Sutherland Park, and their clarion call for unity within the rank and file of our party, have really energized the base of our party, and strengthened our collective determination to salvage Ghana from its current economic woes. The pledge by Mr. Kyeremateng and Hon. Addai Nimo to rally their base in support of the winner, Nana Akufo-Addo is welcome news indeed.

To the national, regional and constituency executives, the electoral committees and all those who played a vital role to ensure the smooth running of this exercise, we say kudos. Well done! This historic event could obviously not have ended the way it did without the enormous commitment and effort that you put in. This is an indication of the party’s battle-ready spirit.

NPP-USA sees this victory as a victory not only for Nana but for NPP and Ghana. We will continue to throw our unfaltering support behind our newly elected Presidential Candidate, the national executives and the party in general as we prosecute election 2016.
