NPP Youth Wing Supports Nana Addo’s All Die Be Die

The Youth Wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expressed support for the
“ALL DIE BE DIE” statement made by the Presidential Candidate of the party,
currently on a national tour towards the party’s parliamentary primaries.

The statement has generated public debate, and our opponents have lifted the
debate to absurd levels, with spin and a propaganda interpretation. But for us
in the Youth Wing of the NPP, it is a wakeup call. Various members of our party
have suffered severe brutality and intimidation from the hooligans and foot
soldiers of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC). We at the youth
level of the NPP believe we cannot take this anymore and therefore find the
admonishing from the flag bearer a clarion call and in the right direction.
Many examples abound regarding intimidation and harassment from the NDC
and its foot soldiers. The exhortations from the Leader of the party, has
rekindled the spirit of positive defiance for our party faithful to master courage
when under attack.
During the bye elections at Chereponi, a National Security operative was
captured on video shooting into a crowd of NPP supporters, three sustained
bullet wounds. Until today, the said National Security operative has neither
been arrested nor questioned by the police.
At Atiwa, the NDC thugs once again showed up in their numbers to intimidate
the constituents to deter them from getting out to vote. To crown it all Anita de
Soosoo, National Women’s Organiser, run her vehicle over a group of people
wounding 13 severely. Till date the Women’s Organiser has not even been
invited by the Police.

The Agbobloshie market incident is still fresh in our minds where four people,
NPP members, were butchered like dogs in front of a Police Station with eye

DEVELOPMENT IN FREEDOMwitnesses. Even though the people have been identified and believed to be
members of the NDC, not a single one has been arrested or questioned. We
believe that if these people had defended themselves they would have been
alive today.
It will be recalled that immediately the NDC took over in 2009, Ghana became a
war zone, where foot soldiers, who were converted into National Security
operatives, seized cars, public toilets and any other thing that they claimed
belonged to the state.
Then came the attacks on NPP communicators, at various Radio stations, just
because they criticized the President and other NDC top officials. An example is
Nana Darkwa on an Accra radio station, ambushed arrested and prosecuted by
the Police on the orders of the Deputy General Secretary of the NDC and Aide to
the Rawlings’ Mr. Kofi Adams and many others in Kumasi, Tamale, Techiman
and many more.
Over 78 cases of NDC foot soldier harassment of public and civil servants have
been reported in the last two years in the course of undertaking their
legitimate duties for the state. The brutally attacked include National Health
Insurance Scheme officers and NYEP offices across the country, District Chief
Executives (DCE’s) amongst others. Yet the Police till date have not been able
to arrest any of these hooligans, more so to prosecute them.
Putting all these together, we believe that the call on us to protect ourselves
and stand our ground when attacked by the foot soldiers, is legitimate and in
the right direction.
The Youth Wing is sending a strong signal to the NDC foot soldiers especially
the terrorist Azoka boys to who have taken it upon themselves to terrorize and
intimidate members of our party as they did in all the bye elections in Akwatia,
Chereponi and Atiwa.
In Tamale, five NPP activists have been on remand since March 2009 charged
with arson, when it was their houses that were burnt down when the NDC youth went on rampage celebrating victory in early 2009. The incarcerated,
Ibrahim Yahuza, Alhassan Majeed, Habib Adagbana, Alhassan Shaibu and
Imoro Gundaanaa are still in prison custody today. They have been victims of
brutalities of NDC hooligans led by the notorious Azorka boys of Tamale and
yet are the ones behind bars. It is sad commentary on our democracy for the
self styled Asomdwehene who happens to be President of Ghana to have all
these events take place under his watch and still holds himself up as such. Day
in day out it is becoming unsafe to trust the Mills-Mahama government and the
security agencies to protect the peace and the citizens of this country
irrespective of colour, creed or political affiliation.
We will stand up in defence of our constitutional right to exercise our franchise
at all times, we will help police the ballot at all times and will resist any attempt
to subvert the will of the people.
We are aware of the diabolic plans the ruling party has for the 2012 elections
and are ready for them.
In a communiqué signed by all ten Regional Youth Organisers, the Youth Wing
and on my own behalf has supported the flag bearer’s statements adding that it
has rejuvenated the spirit of the youth on the grassroots in the regions and
constituencies.
The National Youth Wing of the party is fully behind the flag bearer. “ALL DIE
BE DIE”. Together we will work towards a brighter future.
