NPP advised to talk peace

Twifu Praso (C/R), Aug 29, GNA – The Central Regional Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr ato Amoah has urged the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to stop their threatening messages and talk about peace.

Addressing a youth meeting at Twifu Praso, Mr Amoah said it was unfortunate that the utterances of the NPP suggested that they did not want peaceful elections in 2012.

He said whilst the NDC flagbearer continued to assure the nation and the entire world that 2012 elections would be peaceful the NPP seemed to think otherwise.

“Today it is the NPP flagbearer inciting people to violence by declaring ‘all die be die; tomorrow it is other members preparing the minds of their supporters for violence,” he said, citing the NPP Youth Organiser’s statement in Wa that the NPP would not allow Nana Akufo Addo to be made punching bag by the NDC in 2012 as an example.

Mr Amoah said it was the fervent hope of Ghanaians that Ghana would learn a lesson from the political turmoil in some African countries and vowed never to repeat the mistakes which landed those countries into those problems.

He appealed to the NPP to help to calm down tempers in the run-up to the 2012 elections by using civil utterances.

He said the NDC regarded the 2012 election just as any of the previous elections held in the country which had passed on peacefully and successfully and stressed that they would continue to prepare the minds of their followers towards that.

Mr Amoah appealed to the NPP to educate their followers on the importance of peace to make the 2012 elections to pass on peacefully.

He reminded the NPP that Ghana is the only country they had and all must work to protect the peace the nation was enjoying.

“Let us stop creating fear and panic among our people,” the NDC Youth Organiser stressed.
