NPP aspirant in certificate fraud?

Some delegates of the Korley Klortey Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have accused former chairman and parliamentary hopeful of the constituency, Valentino Nii Noi Nortey of engaging in certificate forgery.

According to the delegates who have petitioned the Regional Vetting Appeal Committee against the decision to allow Mr. Nortey to contest the primaries, the former constituency chairman’s certificate purpoted to be coming from the University of Ghana was forged and its mere withdrawal during his vetting poses a threat to the party should he be elected as the parliamentary aspirant of the party.

“Our understanding is that at his vetting, Valentino Nii Noi Nortey purportedly withdrew his degree certificate after which the panel gave him the green light to contest”, the appeal read partly.

They therefore expressed disappointment at the manner in which the issues bothering on criminality engaged in by the parliamentary hopeful has been treated with triviality.

They added that the certificate from the University of Ghana was not the only certificate allegedly forged but his Voters ID Card and his NPP membership cards were also questionable

On the certificate indicating he graduated from the University of Ghana, they stated that it was contained in a brochure being circulated by his team that he completed his basic education at the Osu Home J.S.S in 2002 and proceeded to Presbyterian Boys’ School, Legon (Presec) and later to the University of Ghana from 2001-2005 where he graduated with second class honours in Bachelor of Art, Political Science.

“However completing basic education in 2002 makes it impossible for him to be in the University from 2001-2005”, they argued strongly, adding that “ his name at the basic level was Asante Eric Afari and his date of birth then was 3rd May 1987 which is different from his current date of birth which is supported by his birth certificate procured on 3rd October, 2013 which states that he was born on 3rd May, 1984.”

They also averred that when he contested for the chairmanship slot of the constituency he provided a membership card with the name Valentino Nii Nortey Aniampam dated 10th October, 2012 and his polling station given as Osu Cinema Hall (A) which was even at variance with the information on his voter ID.

According to the petition , he again provided a membership card bearing the name Valentino Nii Noi Nortey and his polling station was given as Divine Healer’s Church.

The petition signed by Juliana Briandt, George Attor Williams, Mary Crentsil, Ebenezer Acquah, Michael Nana Nkansah and Edward Yobo Quansah noted that a Daily Graphic Publication of May 8th, 2015 which stated that, “During his short term as constituency chair, he ensured that a permanent office was secured for the party at Osu, bearing the cost all by himself” was untrue because they were funded by well meaning members of the constituency and not as published.
