The Minority leader in Parliament, Haruna Iddrisu has stated that the New Patriotic Party government cannot say they finally ended Dumsor.

He stated that, the NPP failed to add anything to the energy generation capacity.

According to him, it would have been appropriate if the finance minister acknowledge that they inherited a generational capacity that was very helpful in ending dumsor.

Hon Ken Ofori-Atta reading the 2018 ‘’Adwuma pa ‘’ budget revealed the efforts the government made in ending the dumsor crisis that led to many businesses folding up.

“We have all too soon forgotten how the menace of dumsor from 2012- 2016 crippled the economy. It contributed to the lowest growth rate recorded in the past decade, the loss of jobs, reduced economic output and the loss of consumer and investor confidence in the economy.

Dumsor was also compounded by high electricity tariffs, increasing the cost of doing business in the country.” Ken Ofori Atta disclosed.

The minister on the lighter side teased the efforts government made in ending dumsor and said SHS student have literally forgotten to spell dumsor because the NPP government has been able to banish the menace of just 11 months of administration.

The minority leader in parliament also responded in an interview saying ‘’But the Minority leader in a radio interview reacting to the statement of the finance minister said every Ghanaian knows the NDC put an end to dumsor before leaving power and there was no need for the NPP to try and take credit for what they have not done.’’
