NPP capo admits weakness in PR system

Kumasi, Aug 12, GNA - Mr Stephen Ayesu Ntim, First National Vice-Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Friday acknowledged the weaknesses in the research and public relations outfit of the party.

Speaking at an interaction with the media in Kumasi to herald the launch of his campaign for the National Chairmanship of the NPP, Mr Ntim said one of his visions, when elected would be the establishment of a formidable and functional research and public relations secretariat at all levels of the party's structure to counter the negative propaganda of the opposition against the government.

He said the inefficiencies in the research and public relations system in the party had enabled the opposition, especially the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to use its propaganda machinery to override the government and the ruling party.

Mr Ntim said he would also make sure that the leadership of the party remained neutral in the selection of the next flagbearer of the party.

He said if elected as the chairman of the party, he would exhibit no bias towards any particular candidate and would also compel the President to do the same.

Mr Ntim stated that he would also resource and empower the leadership of the party at the grassroot level economically to enable them to lead comfortable live and work towards the attainment of victory for the party in the 2008 election and beyond.

He said he has also designed a model plan for the construction of offices for all the party's constituencies throughout the country and gave the assurance that the buildings would be completed within the three to five years of his chairmanship.

A new national headquarters would also be constructed for the party.

Mr Ntim pledged to empower and encourage women and the youth to take active part in the activities of the party and urged the party members to give him their support to win the chairmanship.
