NPP delegation to visit jailed Ken Kuranchie today

National Organiser of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Moctar Bamba is this morning leading a delegation of more than 20 party members to the Ho prison where jailed Daily Searchlight publisher, Ken Kuranchie is being held.

Their visit comes a day after prison officials clashed with pro-NPP group, Let My Vote Count Alliance during a similar visit. The prison authorities had insisted Mr. Kuranchie had exceeded his visiting quota.

Party officials, however, insist they will go ahead with the visit today to let Mr Kuranchie know he is not alone.

General Secretary of the party, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie tells Joy News prison officials would have to relax the rules to enable the delegation meet Mr. Kuranchie.

He added:“What is important is that …we want Ken to know that he shall not walk alone, he has a team that supports him, his party people love him and all of us will continue to stand by him.”

Ken Kuranchie is serving a ten-day sentence pronounced on him Tuesday by the Supreme Court after he was found guilty of criminal contempt for a publication in his paper and not showing remorse for his action.

Ken was jailed together with an NDC communicator, Stephen Atubiga who has since been released after serving his three-day term at the Akuse Prison.
