The Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Council of Elders in Obuasi, Mr Boadi Mensah, has locked up the party's office since he no longer supports the party.
Mr Boadi locked up the office, re-claiming every property belonging to him.
“I put up this office…but because of the treatment being meted out to some of us, I’ve cleaned out the offices of all NPP paraphernalia. I put up this office in 1990. I made sure it was roofed and painted. I also provided all the chairs to make the office comfy, but enough is enough, I’ve locked it up,” he said.
Mr Boadi Mensah, who happens to be a former MP for Obuasi, revealed that he embarked on this action because the NPP was sharply divided into two camps.
“The Secretary is on the side, whiles the Organiser is on the other side,” he said, adding that if anyone thinks his action as inappropriate, then it is up to the public to judge.
“I made sure the party was firmly rotted in the area with some others…If some ungrateful people feel my action shows a lack of loyalty, it’s up to them.”
Speaking to Peace FM news on the issue, Mr Boadi Mensah confirmed his resignation from the party.
However, he believes his decision to resign from the NPP will not lead to the collapse of the party in the area.
Asked which political party he intends aligning himself with, a visibly angry Mr. Mensah hanged up the phone but not before he sharply retorted, “Don’t ask me that question, thank you!”
