NPP going through period of "depression and frustration" – Spio

A leading member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Ekwow Spio Gabrah says the court case against the Electoral Commission (EC) by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is an attempt to incite its supporters against the EC.

He said the move is an attempt by the NPP to blame the President and the EC for its defeat.

Speaking to Accra based Citi FM, the former CEO of the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation said the NPP is going through some psychological problems due to the painful defeat suffered in the December elections.

“Part of what they are doing is anger management by simply pushing away the anger of their people to the Electoral Commission towards and the President and even possibly the Supreme Court,” Dr. Spio Garbrah said.

He added that “if you see how they behaved with regards to former President Kufuor trying to prevent him from going to the Independent Square then you can understand how their minds are working.

“We sympathize with them because obviously when you lose an election there is a whole psychological process you go through, which includes periods of denials, frustrations, anger, depression I think it is a matter that psychologists can help them overcome”.
