The New Patriotic Party (NPP) government led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo deserves no credit for reducing import tax levy at various harbours in the country destroying the country’s economy according to an executive of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Government last week during a Town Hall meeting addressed by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia announced some 50% and 30% on the benchmark values of general and vehicle imports respectively

But according to the government should not take credit for the announcement because it has done absolutely nothing to warrant such praises.

“The President does not deserves credit for the benchmark value”, Deputy Ashanti Regional Communication Officer of NDC, Alex Kwaku Asafo Agyei told listeners of Nhyira FM during panel discussion MynewsGh.com monitored.

According to the outspoken communication officer, the current burden and hardship businessmen in the country are going through in clearing their goods at harbours is a result of mismanagement of the government.

Mr. Kwaku Asafo Agyei therefore drew this analogy to justify his stance: “If I walk in the studios of Nhyira FM and destroy computers and among other gadgets, do I deserve credit in trying to fix them? He quizzed host, Papa Nyameke.

He further explained that importers mostly people at Suame Magazine in Kumasi are yearning for the presidency of the former President John Dramani Mahama to rescue them from the current hardship they are undergoing.
