A group aligned to the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has urged all politicians to help restore some level of decency to the country’s politics by doing away with deception, cheap and idle talk.
They said the bar needs to be raised by cutting down absurdities.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Ofoase-Kokobin branch of the “Nana Addo for President” (NAFOP) group in the Bekwai Constituency and signed by its Chairman, Mr. Vincent Kyei Attobrah.
It was in reaction to what the group saw as an attempt by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the area, Mr. Noah Asante-Manu, to draw the NPP into the internal crisis of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The MCE is reported to have told a Kumasi-based FM Radio Station that the NPP for lack of electioneering campaign message had put a charm on former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, spiritually manipulating her to cause confusion in the NDC.
The group described the claim as ridiculous, diversionary and a belittling of the intelligence of the people.
It advised the MCE to remain silent and stop messing himself up to save the image of the Municipality.
NAFOP accused the MCE of poor performance, which it claimed was fueling agitation by his own party members for his removal from office.
He should therefore focus on bringing development to the municipality and refrain from making a mockery of himself, the group added.**
