The respondents have described as strange, the petitioners’ opposition to the application to call other witnesses who deposed to their affidavit.
The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed an application by the respondents in the election petition case seeking to cross-examine other witnesses beside Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
The application was first made by Tsatsu Tsikata, lead counsel for the third respondent.
The nine-member Bench on Thursday, however, ruled that allowing the respondents to haul other witnesses into the dock will delay the hearing.
Speaking to journalists after the court hearing on Thursday, Nana Ato Dadzie, who speaks for the respondents’ legal team accused the petitioners of running away from their own witnesses.
“The strange thing is that the petitioners are literally running away from their witnesses,” he stressed.
