The yet-to-be-launched New Patriotic Party (NPP) manifesto will place emphasis on job creation for the many unemployed youth in the country, as a result of the inability of the government to create the environment for business and economic growth, the vice-presidential candidate of the party, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has said.

Dr Bawumia said this at Nyanyano Kakraba in the Gomoa East constituency on Monday, September 26, on his the first day of his Central regional campaign tour.

He outlined a number of policy initiatives including redirecting focus from taxation to production to create jobs and wealth for the larger Ghanaian populace.

“Our soon-to-be launched manifesto will be about jobs. Today, our youth cannot find jobs – this will change under the NPP. We will introduce policies that will make it easy for businesses to operate, make profit, grow, and employ. We will deal with the high import taxes to make it easy for companies to bring in raw materials and equipment for production and we will reduce the high tax burden on companies and traders,” he indicated.

So far, only the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially launched its manifesto for the 2016 polls in December. The Progressive People’s Party (PPP) has launched a 10-point agenda or plan towards the election. The other political parties, including the NPP, are yet to launch theirs.
