NPP must work hard to win 2008 elections- Dan Botwe

Kumasi, May 22, GNA- Mr. Dan Botwe, an aspirant for the NPP presidential flag bearer, has noted that, even though the party was poised to win the 2008 general elections, members needed to work extra hard to achieve it.

He explained that though the party under President Kufuor had achieved significant successes in government, there were still more to be done and asked members not to take things for granted.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Kumasi on Monday after a weeklong tour of all the 39 constituencies in the Ashanti region, Mr. Botwe said Ghanaians had every right to demand more development and improved living standards from their leaders.

This according to him, called for leadership with passion to be able to motivate Ghanaians to work very hard to achieve national development goals.

Mr. Botwe pointed out that there was the need for party members to elect a leader who would sign a contract of eight years of hard work with Ghanaians.

He said he would offer a dynamic and effective leadership in 2008 by motivating the people to work hard in all fronts.

Mr. Botwe, who was a former Minister of Information and General Secretary of the NPP, said with his experience in government, he had come to appreciate the problems facing the people, adding that, with that background and experience, he found himself very competent to meet the challenges.

He said members of the party knew his work rate and had received a massive encouragement from all the nine regions he had toured in the country.

Mr. Botwe said the current vigorous campaign towards the primaries to elect a flag bearer, had been with the party since its formation and hoped the party would come out very united to continue the good work of President Kufuor.
