NPP needs a universal leader and not a weak one

Ho, June 28, GNA- The New Patriotic Party (NPP) would need a "universal leader and not a weak one" to be able to win the 2008 Presidential elections.

Mr Mustapha Hamid, Spokesperson for Nana Akuffo-Addo, one of the candidates seeking to be the NPP presidential candidate made this assertion in Ho on Wednesday as part the campaign team's tour of the Volta Region.

He observed that next year's election was not "a done deal" for the NPP whose delegates needed to choose a candidate who combines the attributes of the late Professor Adu-Boahene and President John Agyekum Kuffuor to "fit" the National Democratic Congress (NDC). " Let's not experiment in 2008, but choose Nana Akuffo-Addo to maintain power for the NPP", Mr Hamid said.

He described Nana Akuffo-Addo as an international diplomat par excellent who has the ability to meet the NDC boot for boot. Mr Hamid allayed the fears of Party faithful that Nana Akuffo-Addo would not be able to win the Presidential elections and asked them to be reminded by his successes in all his endeavours and the international image he had created for the country for the past few years. He asked delegates not to forget his sacrifices to the Party when things were hard in the opposition and choose him as the true Party person who had always been with the Party and knew the tradition.
