Akim Ofoase (E/R), May 3, GNA - The Eastern Regional Chairman of the NPP, Nana Kofi Adi Ankamah, has inaugurated a 20-million-cedi constituency office and executive for the newly-created Akim Ofoase-Ayirebi constituency on Monday.
A delegates' conference of the party elected Nana Akwah Frimpong, an educationist, as chairman, as he polled 43 votes to beat Mr Kwame Arhine, a businessman, who had 22. Mr John Debrah Acquah, was elected as first vice chairman, with Mr B.A. Mensah, as second vice chairman. Mr J.S. Mensah was elected secretary, Isaac Ahenkora Marfo, assistant secretary, Ms Grace Asiedua, women's organiser, Mr Eric Osei-Ansere, treasurer, Mr Yaw Nkoah-Mensah, organiser and Mr Yaw Kordie, youth organiser.
In his inaugural address, Nana Adi Ankamah, reminded the executive of the task ahead of them and urged the members to work extra hard as a team, to enable the party to win the constituency seat in the December elections hands down.
He told them that their term of office was for a year, adding that their retention in office would depend on how creditable they would perform their duties.
Nana Adi Ankamah advised them to guard against petty squabbles and co-operate with the District Chief Executive to move the district forward.
Meanwhile, one of the aspiring NPP parliamentary candidates for the constituency, Mr David Oppon-Kusi, has said it was his ambition to help introduce modern agricultural practices to the farmers in the area if elected to Parliament.
Speaking to the GNA, he said, the time had come for modern technology to be introduced into agriculture for it to accelerate rural development and improved standard of living of the people.
