NPP organiser?s bodyguard kills friend

The National Organiser of the NPP Lord Commey has confirmed a shooting incident in which his special aide accidentally shot and killed a friend last night.

Obviously shaken Lord Commey said it was a freak accident, totally unintentional.

He said his aide Abu shot and killed a personal friend in the process of picking his gun with other goods at the back of his car. The Odorkor police are investigating.

Police in Odorkor, Accra are investigating the death of a young man killed by a gun belonging to the National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party, Laud Commey.

In what Mr. Commey described as bizarre circumstances, the gun according to him accidentally went off and killed the deceased as some goods were being offloaded from his car.

Mr. Commey, whose party head has come under fire for some comments allegedly made against the presidency in relation to kickbacks, told the Police that his special aide accidentally dropped the gun which went off killing the man.

The deceased, whose name is yet to be made public, is said to be an assistant to Laud Commey?s special aide.

Laud Commey says he remains devastated by the incident and is cooperating with the Police in the investigations into the case.

Mr. Commey says the gun is registered and was in his car as at the time the goods were been off loaded.

He told JOYNEWS that his aide picked the gun from the vehicle and in the course of placing it on the floor; it fell and accidentally went off killing the man

Executives of the ruling New Patriotic Party have been hit by a series of scandals in recent times.

First the NPP MP for Nkoranza North, Eric Amoateng is busted in the US for trafficking in heroine raising questions on the vetting processes for selecting officers in the party.

Then, the Enquirer newspaper publishes a story alleging that the National Chairman, Harona Esseku says the presidency takes kickbacks from contractors and other business people who are awarded contracts.
