NPP picks Mankattah Jnr

The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has chosen the son of the late MP for Odododiodio to contest the seat on the party?s ticket.

Lennox Sidney Asafoatse Mankatah, a revenue collector of Accra Metropolitan Assembly was chosen ahead of eight other contestants.

The eight including the former NPP MP of the area, Niibi Ayibontey, were disqualified to contest during a vetting of the candidates.

Confusion broke up at the congress grounds when the eight were disqualified.

Police reinforcement was sent to the constituency to maintain order.

Some NPP members in the area have vowed not to vote for the party after the disqualification of the eight was announced.

Others including some of the eight candidates have vowed to sue the party to force the executive to renounce their decision.

The Odododiodio by-election is slated for August 30. Te seat became vacant after the NDC MP for the area died after a battle with hypertension and diabetics.
