The National Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah, has responded to remarks by the National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi.

The NDC spokesperson had mocked Ahiagbah, claiming he appeared pensive during a press conference addressed by Miracle Aboagye, the spokesperson for the NPP flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

In a statement shared on his X page, Richard Ahiagbah debunked claims that he appeared less cheerful because he knew his party was losing the elections.

"It takes more than smiles to win an election. I was pensive because of the reckless incitation of NDC thugs to overrun the EC by @SammyGyamfi_

"I am was pensive because the NPP's victory will be impaired if the tail end of the process degenerates into chaos..." Ahiagbah said.

Counting and the declaration of results are currently underway following the closure of polls at 5 p.m. across most polling centers in the country.

The 2024 elections were conducted across 276 constituencies nationwide, with the process being largely peaceful.

However, isolated incidents of violence have been reported, including the confirmation of one death in the Tolon Constituency in the Northern Region.

The Electoral Commission (EC) has urged Ghanaians and political parties to exercise patience as it fulfils its mandate of delivering a successful election.
